Wow. Lots of information on options out there. I read through most of Weeks 6 & 7 and settled on The Library Thing. It was amazingly easy to add it to my blog. I also practiced making a "mock" CD cover and this was also very fun. One thing I'm having trouble with is how to add a video to my blog--I'll check with Zoma at our next class.
I got a head start on next class and added a Facebook page--I thought this would be a good idea so I could see Shannon's Ireland pictures. I've really had no interest in having this social networking page, but after hearing that many of my friends have them and their claim that it's a good way to communicate with their kids, I thought, "Why not?"This decision turned out to be a disaster. Shannon claimed I guilted her in to adding me as a "friend" and Ryan said he'd only "friend" me after I established some "Facebook credibility". After feeling like the most unpopular girl in school, I decided it wasn't worth it and deactivated my profile. My Facebook page had a lifespan of less than 24 hours.

Monday, Monday
I've just finished a 12 hour "conference" day so am looking forward to a glass of wine and catching an episode of "Big Bang Theory". Nothing like a little "Sheldon" to put things in perspective.
I actually enjoy this conference week--it's fun to chat with the parents, see some co-workers that I don't always have a chance to talk with, and the Wednesday comp day is especially nice as it helps me get into relaxation mode for a day of feasting with the family on Thanksgiving.
A nice surprise, when I got home tonight, was that Shannon posted a new entry on her blog. It's so fun to hear about life in Ireland. I know she's going to have a hard time leaving the country and her new friends but I'm confident she'll return there many times--hopefully with Tim and I, at least once! We'll be excited to have her home on December 19th. We're also looking forward to Ryan's first Advent Vespers concert as a member of the Augsburg Choir. It should be fabulous!

Working with Pictures
It's been really fun trying out some of the new sites we learned about in last week's class. I was surprised at how easy they were to navigate. I still need more practice, however, in getting things transferred to this blog. What I need is a day at home, alone, where I can just play with the computer all day and ignore the house and all the things that need to be done!

To RSS or Not? That is the question...
I've always wondered what that little code "RSS" stood for on some of the sites I visited and now I know. The benefit to subscribing to a blog or a news source is that I can get updates without having to reveal my email address and potentially have my mailbox inundated with loads of unwanted emails. For those blogs I follow, it will be nice to have notification when something new gets posted (and let this be a little prod to you blogger-slackers to get on the ball and get those things updated! I know there's lots of interesting things going on with you!). I doubt that I'll use the RSS subscription option for much more than the blogs. At times I feel like I'm already on information overload and to sort through tons of notifications seems like it could be overwhelming.

Class Week #2
Who knew that there were all these things to do with Google? I found this week's lesson very easy to complete and I'm excited to know that once those Twins release their spring training schedule I'll be automatically alerted! I can see the usefulness of Google alerts for things like upcoming concerts or workshops that I might be interested in attending. The iGoogle page was fun to do--the possibilities are endless. I don't know how much I'll use this page, but it will be fun to explore all the gadgets.

Identity crises
This will be my third change in Avatar identity since this class began. Either I'm having a mid-life crises or I'm just a big procrastinator, looking for anything else to do except return to my job of painting our family room. Since this long weekend weather was uncooperative, we decided to tackle an indoor project and repaint downstairs. As always, the job turns out to be bigger than anticipated. We're almost ready to finish up downstairs--for this weekend anyway, and get outside for some yardwork, now that the sun has made an appearance. Tomorrow we have a "fun day" planned...first off will be going to Ryan's first Augsburg choir appearance in St. Paul, followed by lunch (Cafe Latte?) and a drive to look at what's left of the fall colors.
